  • The Snyder Foundation’s main areas of emphasis are: healthcare, education, social services, and faith-based community initiatives.
  • The bulk of its giving is particularly focused on Union County residents and institutions.
  • The Snyder Foundation was founded in New Jersey in 1971 as the Snyder Trust by Harold B. Snyder, a New Jersey land developer and builder for 50 years, who also founded the Kenilworth State Bank.
  • It was founded on the belief that philanthropy is a critical element in society.
  • With Harold’s passing, in 1979, daughter Audrey Snyder was appointed to head up the Trust.
  • The Snyder Trust was renamed The Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder Foundation in 1984, in honor of Audrey’s parents’ shared passion for “giving back” to society.
  • Under Audrey’s charge, the Foundation issued its first grant that same year (1984).
  • To date, the Foundation has made grants approximately $25 million to a wide spectrum of community organizations, entities, and individuals in critical need of philanthropic help.
